William is buried in the "Gilreath" cemetary in Pulaski county, KY. Sarah is listed on the 1900 census in Whitley county living with her son-in-law Joseph and daughter Julia Smith. To date no grave marker for Sarah has been found although unmarked grave sites are located on the both sides of William.

**James Lewis Gilreath, nephew of William Wesley, in his application for discharge, lists at least one engagement against the confederates at "Blue Springs, TN" during the Seige of Knoxville.

NOTES FOR THE ABOVE CHILDREN: Julia, youngest child of William and Sarah, is one of the three children listed by Sarah as her dependents in her 1893 pension record. The children, and dates of birth, were listed as follows:

James G. March 13, 1871, Thomas S. born May, 1874, Julia A. June 10, 1879

The pension record lists William Elijah Gilreath (another son) as her attorney and one of the witnesses was Mary Gilreath, wife of William E.

It appears that the date listed for Thomas S. is different that the date he used on later records but the dates listed for the other two children agree with later records. In 1900, Sarah is listed on the census as the mother in law, living in the home of Josiah Smith. The following is a list of Josiah's family:

NOTES FOR ANNIE GILREATH:

Annie was the child from Thomas's first marriage to Mintie Anderson. From the Whitley county marriage files. There is also a copy of a handwritten note signed by Cam Anderson giving permission for his daugher Mintie to wed Thomas.

It has been speculated that there were 2 children from that marriage, but the 1910 census shows the following information:

The children from Thomas and Cynthia are: Annie (13), Minnie (6), Lucille (2) and Agnes (10/12)*I'm assuming months old*. They answered the census questions that Thomas has been married 2 times, Cynthia 1 times, they both answered 7 years for marriage length, Cynthia answered that she was the mother of 4 children total, 4 living. With this information, it would show Annie as the only child of Thomas's first marriage to Mintie Anderson**see note above**. I do know the marriage ended due to the death of Mintie. That is when Thomas came to Oklahoma, Wagoner co, and met and married Cynthia.

Martha Anderson Harrison of Pensacola, FL is the neice of Rhumintha J. 'Minty/Minnie/ Anderson. She has been trying for years to find descendants of Minty. Martha is the daughter of Jacob Coby Anderson, brother to Minty.

Martha had the following to say about Minty Anderson Gilreath. "Rhumintha Jane died from stress and complications brought on by three young children and the loss of two of them. Thomas took their daughter, Annie, when about 5 years old on a train to Oklahoma where a brother to Thomas was living. Thomas then married Cynthia Dickerson and they had 11 children.

Thomas Gilreath is listed in the 1910 census for Wagoner Co., OK married to Cynthia Dickerson and Annie is listed as age 13. Also listed is the 6 year old daughter of Cynthia." (Source: Martha Harrison, Pensacola, FL)

My mother's name is Rhoda Rhumintha Davis Hudson. Very few people have called her Rhoda. Most people know her as Minty, Minnie or Middie - all nicknames for Rhumintha. Mom always hated the name Rhumintha. :)

Generation No. 2

2. ANNIE L.6 GILREATH (THOMAS SYLVESTER5, WILLIAM WESLEY4, BENJAMIN J.3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born 06 Apr 1897 in Whitley co, KY, and died 20 Jun 1976 in Shamrock, Creek co., OK. She married ROLLIE T. STAFFORD 08 Jan 1913 in Sapulpa, Creek co., OK. He was born 22 Jun 1886 in Kansas, and died 20 Feb 1972 in Shamrock, Creek co., OK.

Notes for ANNIE L. GILREATH:
Annie was the child from Thomas's first marriage to Mintie *seen as Drumille J. on census* Anderson.

That is when Thomas came to Oklahoma, Wagoner co, and met and married Cynthia E. Dickerson.

Annie's Headstone lists her name as Anna Lee. Her and her husband are both buried in Shamrock cemetary, Shamrock, creek co., OK

Notes for OTTO "OTT" GILBERT SMITH:
was killed in a hunting *accident*, was ruled as such but, due to his history of moonshining and other activities, some family believes it was not an accident.
Article is in the Hood River News, man who shot Ott was a man by the name of Draper.

From the 24 Sep 1937 issue of the Hood River News Front page, right column continued on page 8.

Al Draper Collapses After Telling
Of Accident
---------------

Mistaken for a deer, Otto Smith,33, of Mount Hood, sank to his knees, on Ghost ridge near CloudCap, Monday mornig, and died within a short time after his hunting companion, Al Draper, of Parkdale. who fired the fatal shot, had reached his side. Draper raced for help and after he had hystarically told the story of the accident, collapsed. A widow and three children at Mount Hood mourn the untimely death of husband and father.
Fate took a hand in the preliminaries which preceded the accident. Smith, C. G. Springer, and Claire F. Stohl left Mt. Hood early Monday to hunt the Spur road region, but on arrival, ran into another party of hunters, including Draper, Ray Sato and W. P. Eding. Smith decided to join the three and hunt with them. They chose the long Ghost ridge, just below Cloud Cap and planned to separarte but advance in a line along the ridge slope.
Some time later, Draper thought he saw something move further along the ridge, at about the same level he was standing and apparently decided that a deer was standing between two trees hidden by brush. As he watched the spot, he saw what he thought was a deer raising up between the two trees and bringing his rifle up, he fired.
Hardly before he could lower his rifle, he saw the form of a man lurch forward and racing to the scene, was horrified to find that he had shot Otto Smith, his companioon, in the chest, and that he was dying. After doing all he knew to aid his dying companio, Draper raced for help and encountered C. G. Springer and Claire Stohl, to whom he said: "I have killed a man." Draper who was husterical, collapsed in a faint. Springer asked Stohl to take care of Draper, while he himself raced to the road to reach a telephone and secure surgical aid. As he ran he heard several rifle shots, but associated them with other hunters.
In the meantime, others who had also heard the shot, thought they came from a point near where Smith was lying dead, and then it was that they discovered that Smith must have rallied, for he had fired all shells in his rifle in an effort to attract attention to his plight. He died immediately afterwards.
Sheriff John Sheldrake and State Officer Raney were called and Coroner Anderson left for the mountain to take charge of the body, which was later brought to Hood River.
Draper was cared for by officers and others during the afternoon, as he was bordering on complete collapse. He rallied towards evening.
Smith had been employed at the Neal Creek Lumber Company's mill in the Midddle Valley, and was well known to may residents.
This is the first deer hunting tragedy in Hood River valley for many years.
