Some of the Oklahoma Records Available:
THE MAIN THING TO REMEMBER IS, OKLAHOMA DID NOT BECOME A STATE UNTIL 1907. IT WAS KNOWN AS EITHER OKLAHOMA TERRITORY OR INDIAN TERRITORY. SOME OF THE AREAS DID HAVE NEWSPAPERS BEFORE STATEHOOD, BUT NOT ALL. ALSO, NO DEATH OR BIRTH RECORDS WERE REQUIRED TO BE FILED UNTIL AROUND 1917.
Marriage Records:
Marriage records for the State of Oklahoma are held in the individual counties. This does make it hard when searching for a marriage if you don't know what county they married in. Some towns hold their own records in each county, for example in Creek County Oklahoma. Bristow and Drumright did not turn their records over to the county seat of Sapulpa.
Death & Birth Certificates:
ALL death and birth certificates are held in the OKC office. There is a Tulsa office that has some of the records, but not all of them. There is a non refundable $10.00 charge when ordering. Please note that very few if any are available before around 1917.
Certified Copies of birth and death records may be obtained by either:

Death or Birth Indexes:
There are NO indexes to births or deaths available in Oklahoma, see above for death and birth certificates.
Obituaries:
Each town held their own papers, but some used the county paper as their paper. This too can make it hard to find obits. Some people have been kind enough to index the obits for certain papers, but there is no state wide index of obits.
Funeral Records:
LOTS of funeral homes have records, most are willing to share what records they have. Several funeral homes were bought out by others, but I have found that for the most part, they kept the records when doing the buy out.
